I notice that may be the rubber piece of the magnifier too thick to let the diopter thread fit to the magnifier thread. Any opinion, thanks. Jeff S Posted July 19, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted July 19, 2012 The rubber ring on my Leica 1.25 mag kept falling off until I finally lost it, which didn't work well with my eyeglasses pressed close. Leica Service had to replace the ring and use proper adhesive to ensure it didn't come loose anymore. I have two Leica magnifiers (1.25× and 1.4×), both have their protective rubber rings in place, and both will happily take Leica diopter lenses.  I'm confused too , after reading many places, some said "can fit" some "problem" My case, just buy the 1.25x yesterday and try to fit the +1.5 diopter piece (use it long time with the M8.2) on it but it seem cannot screw it in properly to lock it with the magnifier, it easily can come out. Both are original Leica parts. My opinion, may be wrong, may be leica did change the material or size of the rubber ring due to the problem that it always loose or torn as many people said before. Â Hi Jaapv, Do the diopter for M3 will fit M8 perfectly or not? If not then it should not be the one for M3 because it fitted the M8 perfectly. Choun. Â Interesting , just wait for someone can confirmed that if the diopter piece fit properly on M8 will confirmed that it newly one or not? Yesterday, I did try 2 brand new mag' and both got same result, also try with the other brand new diopter (this happen when I'm at the shop) the reason I agreed to take the mag' because of I'm the one whom order it. Â Take note, that many need a different diopter on the magnifier than they do on the ocular. In theory they should be the same, however if your eye is between values, theory is not enough. I did take the rubber out and found very weird surprised that the diopter still loose, can't screw it in.???? I did took few photos of the box of diopter and mag' to show parts number (which should be the correct combination) and the diopter and mag' itself here. Anybody got an idea? Work around solution I try 2 small pieces of double side tape to fit it together. Welcome, dear visitor! Jeff S Posted July 19, 2012 Share #20  Posted July 19, 2012  I need it for long lens as 135mm, and the person just 55 years old the eye is so weak not only presbyopia but also astigmatism.  ...(snipped)...  I did take the rubber out  You're probably aware that you need to correct for astigmatism before using the mag, either by your glasses (or contacts) or by using a Walter RX Eyepiece instead.  Good luck reattaching the rubber ring if you desire; mine would never stay on once it came loose (without my intent to remove). I could have glued it myself, but considering the price I had Leica do it. But as I wrote earlier, I found the benefits of using the mag did not outweigh the negatives (loss of contrast and inconvenience of use with only one lens).  Jeff Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
