jaques Posted July 18, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) some have commented on the supposedly odd looking lens seen on the fuzzy m10 rumor camera... some have wondered if it is an AF lens... I doubt severely that this is the case- but I guess it would be entirely feasible for Leica to make some specialty M mount AF lenses- that could be used on a specialty M mount AF camera? If that camera had good high ISO large apertures could be sacrificed in return for more room to fit an AF motor (?) into the lens and also keep it small... The classic RF VF could remain relatively unchanged except for a focus confirmation light that only initiates if one of the AF lenses is mounted. Macro and (AF) video via liveview... I think some people would be willing to sacrifice a degree of optical IQ perfection for a very versatile little AF lens (option)...
Advertisement Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Hi jaques, Take a look here New AF lens on the new m10?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
smb Posted July 18, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 18, 2012 As for the photograph I have read comments of somw people questioning the authenticity of the photograph and if it was doctored. Until an M10 is released it will be difficult to speculate.
jaapv Posted July 18, 2012 Share #3 Posted July 18, 2012 Never say never - but extremely unlikely seems to me to be in order. The better explanation was rramesh' one: this is the new EVIL heavily disguised as M. I think it may indicate weathersealing and is a weathersealed lens. Or just a fake.... davidfung Posted July 20, 2012 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2012 If real, as I mentioned elsewhere - M mount lens with auto aperture.
