mikeleng Posted June 27, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 27, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All Enclosed is two photographs from two different Digilux 2 cameras. First one seems to have a protective coating on the EVF thats marked, second one a later model doesn't seem to have any coating at all, the EVF seems clearer and brighter . Do you think the first one can be cleaned, or can the coating be removed, or is it beyond repair. Thanks for looking Mike Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Hi mikeleng, Take a look here Electronic Viewfinder on the Digilux 2 camera. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MPerson Posted June 30, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 30, 2012 Mike - I have checked my two D2s, 298#### & 301#### and no obvious coatings on the EVF.
pop Posted July 1, 2012 Share #3 Posted July 1, 2012 The first one appears to have a metal frame on the eyepiece which the second one does not have. Is there any chance that there is an additional lens stuck to the eyepiece of the first one which could be removed?
brucek Posted July 1, 2012 Share #4 Posted July 1, 2012 The first one appears to have a metal frame on the eyepiece which the second one does not have. Is there any chance that there is an additional lens stuck to the eyepiece of the first one which could be removed? To me it looks as if the first camera has the rubber surround missing around the eyepiece.
mikeleng Posted July 4, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted July 4, 2012 Hi Brucek and Pop I did take the rubber eyepiece off, hoping it would show the coating, that is coming off Hi Mcperson Thanks for your reply my two D2 are 299#### and 300#### so they are from the same period as yours, can't understand it, one with a coating ( dificult to focus) the other without a coating and definitely easier to focus thankyou for your replies Regards Mike
MPerson Posted July 5, 2012 Share #6 Posted July 5, 2012 If you haven't had them from new it's possible a previous owner has applied something.
RFA Posted July 5, 2012 Share #7 Posted July 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mine has a bluish coloured coating if you catch it in the light, serial no is 299*** Ron
brucek Posted July 5, 2012 Share #8 Posted July 5, 2012 My apologies if this is obvious and you've already tried it, but you're aware that there is a diopter adjustment on the EVF aren't you? The dial to adjust it is on the left side of the EVF. And out of curiosity, what specifically is making the unit hard to focus? Bruce
mikeleng Posted July 5, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted July 5, 2012 Hi Brucek Yes I'm aware of the diopter, and I've adjusted it to suit. It's seems to have a haze over it, where my newer one 300****is like new and clear as a bell. Hi Ron Yes mine as a bluish coating over it 299**** and it seems to be rubbing off, which seems to suggest its the cause of the haze I'm seeing. Hi Andy It looks like a factory coating, I don't know of any other reason why its applied. Thankyou all again, I'll get to the bottom of it. regards mike
jaapv Posted July 5, 2012 Share #10 Posted July 5, 2012 Mine is coated and crystal clear. # 2996334. I think most Digilux2 will have a serial number starting something like 298 or 299. I think there were less than 25.000 made. (please correct if wrong)
