Yes the macro adapter is 6 bit coded in its current version. The EXIF shows Leica Macro-Adapter M. The lens on its own shows Leica-Macro-Elmar M 90mm f/4 I don't think that you'll see any benefit/change at all from what are extremely well corrected optics but you have the convenience of the metadata for sorting etc of course. You might like to ask Solms Customer service if coding is possible?
Advertisement Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Hi hoppyman, Take a look here 90mm MACRO ELMAR - worth the $$$ for the closer focussing?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
msap7222 Posted July 24, 2012 Author Share #22 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) Very sharp images Alex! Also good buying at $3K AUD, I have been struggling to find one at less than $4K, admittedly with the angle finder. Do you know what the retail price is locally? I would prefer to buy locally than over the bay, as I will likely have to add GST to the price if imported. Mine was $3200 AUD with uncoded macro goggles but no angle finder, v good condition though - from eBay, a guy in QLD. He listed it late at night and I spotted it when I got up (early...) Buying within Aus is pretty essential, I agree, owing to duty etc, but no idea what the local retail price is.

Earlier this year I bought an absolutely mint condition second hand 4.0/90 M-E with adapter (coded lens & adapter) and angle finder from Tamarkin in the US with original papers & packaging. It was under $4000 AUD incl shipping and didn't attract duty when it went through Australian customs. Fantastic lens.
jaques Posted July 31, 2012 Share #26 Posted July 31, 2012 if you can find one- and can't justify the expense of the 90 macro elmar- then a SOOKY-M and Elmar 50mm makes a very nice, affordable, compact DR/macro lens for the M9... Mark Pope Posted July 31, 2012 Share #27 Posted July 31, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does the Sooky-M work with the current (pre-ASPH) Summicron?
jaques Posted August 1, 2012 Share #28 Posted August 1, 2012 unfortunately No: it only works with the collapsible M Elmar and Summicron lenses- and with the early rigid summicron lenses that have removable lens heads (via an adapter ring). The sample pic above is from an Elmar lens.
