myshkine Posted June 24, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 24, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have found an old thread about it, but my question, for which I have found no answer, is: if there is no seal, what does it mean? That the camera was serviced by an unofficial lab? My M6TTL has no seal.
Advertisement Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Hi myshkine, Take a look here "L" seal. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted June 24, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 24, 2012 I don't think it should have an 'L' seal should it? I think Leica had stopped using a seal before the M6 TTL came along. Steve
Michael Geschlecht Posted June 24, 2012 Share #3 Posted June 24, 2012 Hello Sebastiano, In the 1980's I took an M to Leitz personnaly for them to service. I also picked it up from them personnally. When I picked it up it had a wax seal w/ no imprint of anything. Best Regards, Michael
IkarusJohn Posted June 25, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 25, 2012 My M3 was serviced by Leica earlier this year. The top screw hole on the lens mount has a sparkly charcoal colored substance in it. No imprint, though.

amati35 Posted July 4, 2012 Share #8 Posted July 4, 2012 some 4 years ago I saw on the auction site one of the Leitz L stamps used to make the original seal on the black wax. It sold for about 250 $.
sabears Posted July 4, 2012 Share #9 Posted July 4, 2012 some 4 years ago I saw on the auction site one of the Leitz L stamps used to make the original seal on the black wax. It sold for about 250 $. I know, I have it in my database, but...to tell the truth, the final price was well more than double (and, more, in Euro) ... however considering the fact that they were destroyed almost all, it was a bargain, from a collector point of view, at least, a true piece of history. I think that it was poorly advertised ( and in German only), if sold by WestLicht would have reached even higher price, I suppose. Cheers.
