graphictree Posted March 8, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got my new M8 and very happy except for... my Mac can't seem to see the card? iPhoto imports the pics as normal but I can't get anything else to even see the card. Very strange. I'm hoping to get Aperture to work but at the moment ... nothing. Any clues? TIA
Advertisement Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Hi graphictree, Take a look here M8 card problem?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carstenw Posted March 8, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 8, 2007 What is the card? What is the reader? I had trouble with my Sandisk 5-1 reader and Extreme III 2GB card. Now I use an Ultra II 2GB and the same reader, and still occasionally have trouble. I can live with pulling and re-inserting the card once in a while though. footnoteblog Posted March 8, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 8, 2007 Everyone always mentions fixing filer permissions with Disk Utility, resetting PRAM, fsck in single user mode, before resorting to diagnostics, and system reinstall. Try any of those? I have no M8 but I remember that Aperture doesn't accept Leica DNG files. Please use the search function. Bernd He's saying his computer is not seeing the volume. Search probably won't help.
Guest Bernd Banken Posted March 8, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 8, 2007 sorry Jack, I didn't hit the nail... Please use the search-function in this forum... There are several threads about the situation that so many people here are using Macs but the software Aperture is not supporting Leica DNG. Sorry. footnoteblog Posted March 8, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 8, 2007 You're still not understanding the problem; he didn't say he was having problems with Aperture, but that his Mac wasn't seeing the actual volume in general; not just Aperture. ... digibob Posted March 8, 2007 Share #7 Posted March 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does the card show in diskutil ? as you could try mounting it from there, as a suggestion and a first post. So Hi all.
chrism Posted March 8, 2007 Share #8 Posted March 8, 2007 Gareth, Are you connecting the M8 directly to your Mac? If so, it won't show as a disk on the desktop, but apps like ImageCapture and iPhoto can download from it. You will need a card reader if you want the card to show as a mounted disk and can then use the Finder to copy the files to whichever folder you want. dfdann Posted March 8, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 8, 2007 The card should show up both on your desktop and in Finder on your Mac. If it doesn't then there is probably something wrong with either the card or the reader. Cheers, Dan
mwalker649 Posted March 8, 2007 Share #10 Posted March 8, 2007 I put a new Transend 4G 150x and made some pics and the camera sees them fine but the computer (lightroom, CE LE) says no images on the card. I went back to my sandisk extreme II 2GB and it works fine:confused:
graphictree Posted March 9, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted March 9, 2007 Thanks for all the suggestions. I've now bought a card reader and my Mac can 'see' the card. I'll be tackling the Aperture issue next. But it is annoying that iPhoto seems to be able to see the card (and import JPEGs) while Aperture can't even see the card? Something strange going on here, I think! thanks gareth

Bertl Posted March 9, 2007 Share #13 Posted March 9, 2007 I had the same problem with Sandisk and Lexar cards and the Mac, then I bought a new reader (Hama USB 2.0 35 in 1) and everything is fine. :) Bertram
hsw Posted March 9, 2007 Share #14 Posted March 9, 2007 Had the same problem on G5 Mac but not G4 laptop. Didn't matter which card I used but the reader seemed to be the source; even caused the G5 to freeze up, which had never happened prior to using card from M8 (raw images). Of course iPhoto will say "there are no images to import" if you only have raw on card because Mac doesn't support M8 yet.
