Just got my new M8 and very happy except for... my Mac can't seem to see the card? iPhoto imports the pics as normal but I can't get anything else to even see the card. Very strange.

I'm hoping to get Aperture to work but at the moment ... nothing.

Any clues?

TIA

What is the card? What is the reader? I had trouble with my Sandisk 5-1 reader and Extreme III 2GB card. Now I use an Ultra II 2GB and the same reader, and still occasionally have trouble. I can live with pulling and re-inserting the card once in a while though.

I have no M8 but I remember that Aperture doesn't accept Leica DNG files. Please use the search function.

Everyone always mentions fixing filer permissions with Disk Utility, resetting PRAM, fsck in single user mode, before resorting to diagnostics, and system reinstall.

Try any of those?

He's saying his computer is not seeing the volume. Search probably won't help.

sorry Jack,

I didn't hit the nail...;) Please use the search-function in this forum...:D

There are several threads about the situation that so many people here are using Macs but the software Aperture is not supporting Leica DNG. Sorry.

Gareth,

Are you connecting the M8 directly to your Mac? If so, it won't show as a disk on the desktop, but apps like ImageCapture and iPhoto can download from it. You will need a card reader if you want the card to show as a mounted disk and can then use the Finder to copy the files to whichever folder you want.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've now bought a card reader and my Mac can 'see' the card. I'll be tackling the Aperture issue next. But it is annoying that iPhoto seems to be able to see the card (and import JPEGs) while Aperture can't even see the card?

Something strange going on here, I think!

thanks

Had the same problem on G5 Mac but not G4 laptop. Didn't matter which card I used but the reader seemed to be the source; even caused the G5 to freeze up, which had never happened prior to using card from M8 (raw images). Of course iPhoto will say "there are no images to import" if you only have raw on card because Mac doesn't support M8 yet.
