thompsonkirk Posted June 12, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's nice to post something here again. I've been 'away,' using Rolleis and rangefinder Nikons. San Francisco's Mission District, mostly Latino, is famous for its large and colorful outdoor murals. But these are just one layer of a multifaceted 'art project' with thick layers of street art: smaller murals, sales displays, store signs, heavy metal security works, etc. To try a 'new' lens, I focused on these layers of The Mission's colorful scene. Kirk M9 and 1938 uncoated Sonnar 5cm 1.5 (from a Contax, converted to LTM & then M mount by Brian Sweeney).
Advertisement Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Hi thompsonkirk, Take a look here Street art, Mission district, SF . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thompsonkirk Posted June 12, 2012 Author Share #2 Posted June 12, 2012 A few more, from the same day's shooting/capturing: The menu-reader doesn't really fit into the series, but it shows what an elderly Sonnar, with low contrast and (IMO) bokeh-to-die-for, can still do. At full resolution you can see every stitch in the reader's sweater. OK, I may be appraising the lens with a bias, because we're the same generation.
