Rocket blower seems to clear the light stuff off then i have an illuminated loupe and lenspens sensorklear which moves anything more stubborn, finally but i have'nt had to use them are swabs and cleaning fluid..Wet cleaning does'nt bother me as i used to clean my Nikon D3 regular enough.

Jaap quick question is that eclipse fluid your using and is this the fluid that Leica recommend.?? thankyou in advance.;)

E2, it is not bad, but not my favorite, as it has a tendency to leave a white residue if used too liberally. My favorite is Visible Dust fluid, or the Green Clean wet and dry swabs.

The Green Clean vacuum cleaner is the best tool for loose dust in my experience. On the road the Giotto Rocket Blower does a decent job. There is an extensive article in the M9 FAQ.

No wonder it's so hard trying to register with a decent dentist these days. They're all to busy cleaning their sensors.

After I bought a second camera body, the now infrequent lens changes have resulted in significantly less need to sensor clean. Of course this is not a recommended solution just for that purpose, but it sure has been a nice side effect.

When I do clean, however, I've had success using a rocket blower first, then if needed E2 fluid and swabs, checking after with the aid of a Visible dust illuminated loupe.

This topic comes up almost as frequently as bag threads, so a simple forum search will bring up loads of discussions. There you will find opinions...both ways...on myriad products. Some like one fluid or tool; others have had bad experiences with the same ones. A good local camera dealer, for instance, won't even carry Visible Dust products after too many service department repairs; others swear by the same products.

A lot, of course, depends on user technique, not just the product. The CopperHill site provides a video and some useful tips even if you don't use their products. There are numerous other online videos and tutorials. Once you figure out what works for you, it will become a simple process.

I likened it to bag threads (post #12), and Jaap mentioned the M9 FAQ. The issue, like bags, is that much of this is subjective as opinions vary widely on techniques and products.

Use of the search function would eliminate 75% of the forum discussion; then what would we do in our spare time....take pics?
