How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “c

I grabbed my X2 last night, set the ISO to 3200, the film type to B&W high contrast and went for a walk. 

This one is 2 sec. @ f/2.8. I just made mostly curves adjustments right off the JPEG. The stars are a little streaked, but that is my fault, not that of the rotation of the Earth. I had no tripod, so I hand-held the camera against a light pole on a semi-rural walking path.

Lovely shot ... I am curious what the community feels about how each would approach this ? Is it important to have that first tree in focus or not ? What should you focus on if anything ?

Perhaps this begs to be monochrome or not ?

I think this is a good shot....no rules needed. In a shot with  fog....you develop so much depth and mood that to look for sharpness 'here OR there' is not needed. jim

And speaking of shots with fog . . . I took my X2 to Costa Rica recently. Here are some shots from the slopes of Volcan Irazú. We didn't actually get to see the volcano, but there were some nice misty shots on the drive up and down.

The X2 was a great camera to have along. Rarely did I desire another focal length lens. It's still got it.

This one is from my first trip out with the X2 in 2019. This was my second X series camera and was out with it's brother, the X-Vario on a trip down to southern Alberta.
