jpattison Posted March 13, 2013 Share #104 Posted March 13, 2013 I saw it there, in action. It looks very good, 120 film holders for 645, 66, 67 and 612, which interests me, the 35mm is just 24 x36, so no 24x65 for xPan or Mamiya 7 with 35mm adapter. £2000 is a lot, but much less than the Hasselblads, which are on offer at the moment (see other post here) http://plustek.com/uk/products/opticfilm-series/opticfilm-120/ John
philipus Posted March 13, 2013 Share #105 Posted March 13, 2013 I'm not entirely convinced about this scanner judging by people's comments over at RFF's Opticfilm thread. Some love it but several have reported major focusing problems. At least Plustek is taking the feedback seriously.
plasticman Posted March 13, 2013 Share #106 Posted March 13, 2013 I'm not entirely convinced about this scanner judging by people's comments over at RFF's Opticfilm thread. Some love it but several have reported major focusing problems. At least Plustek is taking the feedback seriously. I think we just have to wait for them to iron out these initial problems. The good scans that have been posted are very, very good. Now Plustek need to get their quality control working.

StS Posted May 5, 2013 Share #108 Posted May 5, 2013 Giving a very short summary, the image quality appears to be good, but the extremely long scan times appear to make it unfeasible to scan more than single MF slides or negatives (at least half an hour at maximum resolution, requiring the full processing power of a contemporary PC, more than one hour using infrared correction or multiscan for maximum density). The Nikon 9000 is said to do the same in 5 mins @ 4000 dpi. They say, the Plustek needs to be set to 5300 dpi to deliver an effective optical resolution of 3450 ppi. It is said to scan 12 35mm frames in two hours. Stefan
sfage Posted May 5, 2013 Share #109 Posted May 5, 2013 I find the scans to be really good. But, not trying to be a nit-pick, I am not crazy about his colour. I am not talking about the machine, I am talking about his skill in re-creating an image with accurate colour.
casalola Posted May 5, 2013 Share #110 Posted May 5, 2013 Several b&w rolls scanned in three months. No focus problems. Slow in colour with infrared and so and so... But quite right in b&w 20mb batch scans
