green stripe in berlin!

Is the green stripe seen at all focal lengths or only with the wide angles? I could imagine that the offset microlenses might have offer a way for light to leak under the blackout mask that covers the periphery, and disregarding the cells closest to the image area would be a response to the problem. But this would certainly depend on the angle at which the light comes to the CCD.

Yes, here's what you get with a 90/2.8:

Jaap, obviously not along the top and bottom edges but along the right edge (taken at an angle to the light doesn't swamp the green bar):

SO when Leica fixes this for 10,000 candle power halogens at 9" someone will find a way to create at 4"

I agree this is happening more than it may for other sensors, but it is like flare. Remmeber that stuff that puts junk on pictures? Don't need to remember; we still see it.

I read this as a kind of flare. As the dr said when I told him '...it hurts when I do ..',

he says '...don't do it!'

AT some point we all need to distinguish those things that are common enough to be bothersome, and those that are just characteristics, and encourage Leica to fix quickly the former.

I had a P25 and when a reflected flash (say mirror, my bad) occurred in the FOV the sensor produced a nice vertical white line - sometimes for the next few frames! I don't remember anyone ever mentioning it in the forums.

As Robert pointed out in one of the shots, the issue seemed to be the positioning of the shade on the lamp. :-)

I appreciate that those exhibiting here are frustrated when it happens, but take out a 15mm lens and shoot near the sun, and get some nice flare, and

narry a peep. Why? we expect it.

I think as technology improves in one area, something will get strained in another. Let's keep the complaints triaged to the items not controllable by photographer (like magenta, vertical bars etc) and maybe tone down (but not eliminate) the requests or demands that a controllable phenomenon be fixed in firmware.

regards

Victor

PS I have been enjoying my DMR again while my M8 is at Solms. I also notice my rotator cuff strain is acting up from the weight of the system. Now,

Where the $%^%$%^ is my M8, Solms!

:-)

Guys ,, I just found out I had the same problem last night when I was at a football game,

Should I ask Leica to fix it , or its a common problem that I shouldn't worry about it ?

(I think I got the green strip under the "C" mode)

Do a search for "Green stripe"

It's very common, and is caused by the intense white light at the very edge of the sensor bleeding across the pixels to the half of the sensor affected. (The sensor is built in two halves, which is why the stripe stops exactly half way across the frame)

I don't think that there's anything that can be done about it.
