mbury Posted May 24, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone sent their Digilux 2 back to Solms for recovering? The cover is coming off in several locations on mine. What are the costs? Any self-help solutions? I've been told to avoid Crazy Glue type products. Thank You! dpitt Posted May 24, 2012 Share #3 Posted May 24, 2012 Some time ago I asked a quote to check my D2 at Camtech. They offered to replace the covering for free in the process! :cool:More info at www.camtech.nl PS: I did not have my D2 checked there yet because I hate to be without it... farnz Posted May 24, 2012 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2012 Leica used to replace the covering for free because I believe the wrong glue was used but I don't know if they still do. Pete.
Anouk Posted May 25, 2012 Share #5 Posted May 25, 2012 I bought a used D2 last year, which had the same problem. I sent the camera to Solm to replace a worn aperture ring, and the replaced the cover for free. Never known a company with better servive than Leica. Don't hesitate, send it to Solms. They'll take good care of your D2!
guzzipap Posted May 25, 2012 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2012 Send my Digilux to Solms last september, wouldn't startup anymore. They fixed everything, new motherboard, diafragm unit, sensor and a new leather. The sensor and the leather where free of charge, that's service ! Now that the LCD is on the blink I may just send it in for repair and cleaning.

LucisPictor Posted May 27, 2012 Share #9 Posted May 27, 2012 It was al little over 300 euro, incl. post and packaging. Charles That's a lot for such an "old" cam. But after all, it's a Digilux 2 and once you have fallen in love with it, you are willing to invest that amount.
John Thawley Posted May 29, 2012 Share #10 Posted May 29, 2012 I think the cover issue was something experienced only by the first production run... to me it seemed to be to big or long... later serial numbers seemed fine. Camera leather.com is the way to go, though. JT
