marknorton Posted June 22, 2012 Share #82 Posted June 22, 2012 The price sounds reasonable keeping in mind Nikon wanted to charge me only a little less to repair the plastic lens cap vanes on a P&S which are sticking. I assume too they didn't have to remove your leather cover since everything could be done from the top.
jaapv Posted June 22, 2012 Author Share #83 Posted June 22, 2012 HI JaapGlad it's back safe and sound - will you have to change your avatar now? all the best Jono As Mark said, the leather is untouched
kokoshawnuff Posted June 22, 2012 Share #84 Posted June 22, 2012 268,97 Euro plus shipping and VAT: 367,67 Euro.Including clean and adjust RF. That seems incredibly reasonable. I've never had to send Leica anything that wasn't covered by warranty, but I've heard of some ridiculously high repair costs reading this and other forums...when I first saw your damage I shuttered to think what they'd charge. Congrats and watch where you sit.

brianv Posted June 25, 2012 Share #90 Posted June 25, 2012 I will never use a flash with my Leica's ever again! Last time I used a flash with a Leica was with the M3. Glad it is back, and thanks for posting the Mishap. Will save others the misfortune.
jaapv Posted June 25, 2012 Author Share #91 Posted June 25, 2012 No problem with using a flash - the problem is being slightly overweight and inattentive.
payasam Posted June 26, 2012 Share #92 Posted June 26, 2012 Trick is, never put down anything un-sittable-on where someone can sit on it. Six months ago I lost my favourite pair of glasses to an Unscheduled Buttock Application. The orbs involved were shapely, but...

payasam Posted June 27, 2012 Share #94 Posted June 27, 2012 I took off my glasses in order to photograph what I had seen while I had them on. No pawing, I assure you: although I wouldn't have minded if my hand had been crushed instead...
Jamie Roberts Posted June 27, 2012 Share #95 Posted June 27, 2012 Blimey! Another reason not to use flash! Hope you get it sorted soon. Regards, Bilk Hey, without the flash it might have cost a lens as the breaking point
jaques Posted June 28, 2012 Share #96 Posted June 28, 2012 the repair price seems amazingly reasonable... I am guessing they gave you special treatment Jaap? I imagine if you tried to order a top-plate it would cost more than that just for the part? and what of your engraving? was that redone?
jaapv Posted June 28, 2012 Author Share #97 Posted June 28, 2012 There was no need to renew the top plate Why should it be? No, I don’t get special prices.
wparsonsgisnet Posted June 28, 2012 Share #98 Posted June 28, 2012 I took off my glasses in order to photograph what I had seen while I had them on.
