The price sounds reasonable keeping in mind Nikon wanted to charge me only a little less to repair the plastic lens cap vanes on a P&S which are sticking. I assume too they didn't have to remove your leather cover since everything could be done from the top.

268,97 Euro plus shipping and VAT: 367,67 Euro.

Including clean and adjust RF.

 

That seems incredibly reasonable. I've never had to send Leica anything that wasn't covered by warranty, but I've heard of some ridiculously high repair costs reading this and other forums...when I first saw your damage I shuttered to think what they'd charge. Congrats and watch where you sit.

Trick is, never put down anything un-sittable-on where someone can sit on it. Six months ago I lost my favourite pair of glasses to an Unscheduled Buttock Application. The orbs involved were shapely, but...

the repair price seems amazingly reasonable... I am guessing they gave you special treatment Jaap? I imagine if you tried to order a top-plate it would cost more than that just for the part?

 

and what of your engraving? was that redone?

I took off my glasses in order to photograph what I had seen while I had them on. No pawing, I assure you: although I wouldn't have minded if my hand had been crushed instead...

 

This would make an entire movie. Robin Williams -- who uses an M8 -- would be just the guy to play it.
