My download shows up on my desktop (MacBook) as m8-1_092.upd. When I double click to open, the computer says there is no default application to open. Should I just copy the .upd file to a SD and then load the SD into the camera? The .upd file is 4.5mb.

Thanks

judy

Hello Judy,

Yes, just copy the .upd file to a freshly formatted SD card, load it in the camera and when you switch it on it will ask if you wish to update, click yes and off it goes. Takes about 2 mins. Make sure your battery is fully charged too.

Eric

EDIT : Oopps too slow.

Took this shot three times in a row and each had different WB, by quite a wide margin.

I feel right at home!

Hi Etienne,

It is indeed. We have to work with what we have in front of us! ;-)

It just looks pretty because it's flooded at the moment. This is England, after all!

Best

Tim

Ed, that isn't the case here. Downloaded ok as a ZIP and contains a .UPD file. This is the case on both the German and US sites.

Are you certain it isn't a problem with your machine?

Yes I am certain it is NOT a problem with my PC.

In fact once I renamed the first extracted file with a ZIP extension then it unzipped to the UPD file.

Just to make sure I had the correct file and it wasn't corrupted in any way re-downloaded it and placed that second download in a sub-folder, and used the USA site/link to get the file, and it un-zipped directly to the UPD firmware file.

Remeber format your card in camera than take out remove file folder in SD card from the computer side put the firmware on the root and copy on the card . Load in camera it will ask to update say yes . Make sure you have plenty of battery

Could drink that in everyday no problem ( the view not the water ..:D )

I downloaded it from the US website with no problems. It extracts as it should, but the German site still gives me the same corrupt file.

That did the trick. Three cheers for the USA! The zipfile on the German site has a slightly different filesize as well.

Hi Jim!

They vary between 5900 + 9 tint and 7400 +8

It's Sussex - can't you tell, no trademark Jono twisty trees!

Best

and curiouser

downloaded from the USA site (after trying the German site) using IE6 and unzipped the file which was about 2.5 MB without the UPD extension

I used Opera to download (again from the USA site) and unzipped the file which came it at 4.673 MB with the extension attached ...I tried the download from the German site in Opera and got the identical file

I suspect the file size is correct but I am somewhat reluctant to try the upgrade now as I find my M8 works just fine and I rarely use AWB

Thank you to all 1.091 beta testers :-)

Thanks to their accidental (?) download and testing, Leica had a few more days to read this forum and fix some bugs (?) and give us a working firmware 1.092 (hopefully working as I have just updated :) )

the file size is 4.564 MB when measured with Windows Explorer

I took the plunge

the update works just fine

the problem is likely with Internet Explorer and not the update software

I'm sure any bugs you saw in 1.091 has been fixed in 1.092:D

I did no see any.... my camera arrived friday morning.... when I read the forum 1.091 had gone already gone so I prefered to wait for you for beta testing ;-)

Interesting that the instructions warn against "downdate" which looks like they don't recommend going back to 1.09 .... I guess that the translation from the German about the consequences, "dropout", isn't particularly well translated.
