SJP Posted May 7, 2012 Share #3 Posted May 7, 2012 There are also quite a few on using zone plates i.s.o. pinhole. Still on my to do list. I haven't found a sneaky method yet to make my own zone plate. A nice little project, methinks.
250swb Posted May 10, 2012 Share #4 Posted May 10, 2012 I have a Skink Leica M pinhole adapter. It works very well and is a nice creative change to looking for sharp focus. The 'M kit' comes with a laser cut pinhole, a zone plate and a zone sieve. Steve
swamiji Posted May 14, 2012 Share #5 Posted May 14, 2012 Leica Goodies used to have some, I have a set. Skink looks very interesting, however their website is very confusing...
johnwolf Posted May 14, 2012 Share #6 Posted May 14, 2012 I'd forget the Leica Goodies model. I have one and cannot not get a decent image with it. Flare is out of control. It's also very cheaply made. The Skink is excellent. All metal and well-engineered. It gives consistently reliable results. Here's one with the M9. I no longer have an M9, but use the Skink with a Leica adapter on my m4/3 system. It's actually nicer to use there because LiveView shows what you'll get and allows you to judge exposure. It is, you have to take a leap of faith, or go to Ebay where it seems possible to buy all the bits if you know what you are looking for. I went direct and my order arrived within a reasonable period of time, but not fast. Steve

swamiji Posted May 15, 2012 Share #9 Posted May 15, 2012 I'd forget the Leica Goodies model. I have one and cannot not get a decent image with it. Flare is out of control. It's also very cheaply made. John I agree about it being cheaply made, but how can it flare... It's just a hole...
250swb Posted May 15, 2012 Share #10 Posted May 15, 2012 I got the M kit that comes with an f/110 pinhole, a f/66 Zone Sieve, and an f/39 Zone Plate. I must say I haven't used the Sieve and Plate much, they are very impressionistic and to my mind suit more graphic subjects like strong shapes and colours. Have a look on Flickr, Skink have a group photo section. Steve
johnwolf Posted May 15, 2012 Share #11 Posted May 15, 2012 I agree about it being cheaply made, but how can it flare... It's just a hole... Yes, you're right. Flare is a property of a lens. It's really irregular shafts of light spreading every which way across the image. So much so that the subject usually cannot be identified. I worte to them and sent example pics, but no response. I gave up. I suppose it could be my particular copy. John

John Well have not used mine for a while. I have all three sizes. One of them produces a pasty picture, and is almost unusable. The other two are pretty good. The bad one, looks as if the hole was not made cleanly. So maybe yours has the same issue. But since it appears they do not produce them any more, I guess it's mute. I have been in contact with Skink. They seem to be pretty good people. It looks very promising.
swamiji Posted May 17, 2012 Share #13 Posted May 17, 2012 Well, I did it. I placed an order for a Skink... we will see what I can do with it.
