daniel_ob Posted July 18, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear at Leica I just could not find other way to send you this letter. Thanks a lot informing me, by e-mail, on your new venture into electronic world of imaging. I am a photographer, and you somehow mistaken me for user of digital images electronic devices. Also I do not have any friend of mine that use such devices, except built into cell phones which are quite enough. Please consider above when make me busy reading your e-mail about such useless (to me) products. On this so heavily overpopulated place I am sure you will find some people to even and pay to obtain such devices, and I wish you success in your further searching. Regards Daniel OB http://www.Leica-R.com Daniel, with respect, I take it therefore that you have never scanned an image to post here? and never will? Your 'letter' is disrespectful to Leica (who pay for this site) and to any photographers who use digital equipment - you're saying were not worthy to call ourselves photographers? Like it or not digital photography is in the ascendancy and no manufacturer can ignore it - Leica (or Hermes) have as much as admitted themselves that they failed to predict just how quickly the market would grow. As a Leica user, it is fair of them to assume that you may be interested in their new products, now or for future use. I am sure it is a simple process to have your name taken off their e mail list. wparsonsgisnet Posted July 19, 2006 Share #18 Posted July 19, 2006 What is expected to happen is that some time in the future, Daniel will be regretting taking himself off the distribution list for digital information. That will be about 20 minutes after the last roll of film in the world has been sold. The trick is to be in the middle between the early adopters who keep cutting their fingers on the edge of technology and those who adopt too late to find any clients. I, for one, appreciate all the advice I have received on this forum from those with the bloody fingers. Regards, Bill

MrEd Posted July 20, 2006 Share #20 Posted July 20, 2006 Come on guys, don't be so hard on Daniel...He's confusing the word "photographer". My guess from what he writes is what he really means is "artist". And as such I can understand his frustration. His world of possibilities is shrinking as we speak due to well known circumstances. However as artists we must learn to adapt and make the best of it. This will produce remarkable results only if we allow ourselves to experiment with new ideas and thoughts in the form of new technology and see what happens. Hate and fear of new inventions will never get us anywhere. That's precisely how art evolves, by not being stuck in the past. There's more to come... maybe next time. Thanks. Ed. .
