With Chrysler in deep financial yogurt (before the FIAT deal) they stopped making the outrageous, crude, fast, and somewhat cartoon-like Dodge Viper. The Viper team wanted to rebirth the snake, and even built full-scale mock-ups for the new Italian management. It worked. The coupe version of the revised Viper (Now Viper SRT, and no longer a Dodge) will be released shortly as a 2013 model, lighter in weight, better in fuel economy (as such), and with electronic aides, such as ABS and switchable attitude control, among other things, and faster (lap records for production cars at two major road racing tracks). The most obvious cosmetic changes involve lighting treatment, but the overall effect is a bit nicer. The original coupe was inspired by (stolen from?) the beautiful Cobra Daytona Coupe, two photos of which is below, too.
