Advertisement Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Hi mongrelnomad, Take a look here Leica Leather Lense Cases. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ecar Posted April 15, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted April 15, 2012 They occasionally pop up on the bay. Worth asking Leica if they can supply you with a replacement.
IWC Doppel Posted April 15, 2012 Share #3  Posted April 15, 2012 Leica can supply replacements for current and recently discontinued about £70 or so
mongrelnomad Posted April 15, 2012 Author Share #4  Posted April 15, 2012 Leica can supply replacements for current and recently discontinued about £70 or so  And what of the more esoteric or 'vintage' lenses? (I'm thinking of purchasing a 35'Lux AA)
StephenPatterson Posted April 15, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted April 15, 2012 Depending upon where you are in the world these can sometimes be found in dealer shops. In Hong Kong they are not hard to find. I don't know if you can find the exact case for the 35 Summilux ASPHERICAL, (can you even find the lens for under $20,000?) as so few were made but it will probably fit in a 35 ASPH (pre-FLE) case as it looks like it has the same gargantuan lens hood. Â Of course if you've got $20K to drop on a 35mm lens then perhaps having LV make a custom one would be the best solution!!!
masjah Posted April 15, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted April 15, 2012 And what of the more esoteric or 'vintage' lenses? (I'm thinking of purchasing a 35'Lux AA) Â Could you not simply measure the dimensions of your vintage lens, find the nearest (larger) one from the current lens catalogue (or the latest LFI has got them all with their dimensions) and order that from Solms. I concede though that they are certainly not cheap!
StephenPatterson Posted April 15, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted April 15, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I concede though that they are certainly not cheap! Â Less than 1% of the cost of a 35 Summilux Double Aspherical.
IWC Doppel Posted April 15, 2012 Share #8  Posted April 15, 2012 I have a 35 lux asph pre FLE and a 28 Cron asph. My 28 hood is identical to the 35 lux AA hood on my 35 it fits right in to the 28 Cron case. If your lens and hood is longer you could carefully cut a bit off the back side of the foam as there is 10mm or so of extra on top of the hood cut out  I bet the case s a 28 Cron case
colorflow Posted April 15, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted April 15, 2012 The original case for the Lux 35 AA stores the lens without the hood attached. So it is quite small. Most AA's came with the gigantic 12587 hood that is also used fore the 28/2.8 and similar to 12451 used for the Cron 28, but a few later ones came with 12588 which is similar to the 12589 used on the V1 ASPH minus the locking ring. Â So the case for the V1 would not fit the AA with the large hood on unless you find an AA with the small hood.
mongrelnomad Posted April 15, 2012 Author Share #10 Â Posted April 15, 2012 Could you not simply measure the dimensions of your vintage lens, find the nearest (larger) one from the current lens catalogue (or the latest LFI has got them all with their dimensions) and order that from Solms. Moritz Posted April 15, 2012 Share #11  Posted April 15, 2012 Hi  IWC is right. The orig. Leica Leather Case for the Leica Summicron-M 2.0 / 28 ASPH will fit. I had both mentioned lenses and used the pouches for them. The lens shade must be mounted.  Best Regards  Moritz
IWC Doppel Posted April 15, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted April 15, 2012 If you have the 12588 hood buy a replacement for the normal lux asph pre FLE lens this stopped production and is still available, having looked very carefully it will fit the length is very very close. If you have the 12587 which is very similar to the 12541 then buy a 28mm summicron asph case. I can get my 11874 lux lens with a 12541 hood in no problem at all
IWC Doppel Posted April 15, 2012 Share #13 Â Posted April 15, 2012 PS I did buy a spare 12541 hood second hand for my 11874 lux and I have had a few double takes I think it as been mistaken for a 35 11873 as when they see the hood and a 35 on the barrel it gets em thinking !
