I've just spent a busy few days on business in the US (NYC and San Francisco) with my new M8, which I picked up at the start of the trip. Below you'll find links to a few images, some color, some b+w, including one that's post-processed with Alien Skin to mimic Tri-X.

I'm back in China now and heading out now for a weekend of shooting more of my normal documentary stuff. Enjoy.

If you haven't done so yet, try running it down 3 times to zero charge, That seems to have helped.Although I agree a second battery a must. I'm using firmware v 9.01 still early enough I can't tell if it has any energy saving changes in it.

The M8 also gets hundreds of shots per charge. It depends, of course, on how much and how long you chimp (and new batteries aren't quite at their max right away).

I wasn't getting many pictures at first either. I tried the discharge kludge and that seemed to work. Now I get a full 2GB cards worthe of pictures and I chimp alot.

I don't want to put more than 187 pictures on one card anyway, so I change the card and the battery at the same time. I keep them senchronized for convienience.

Sorry to be the voice of dissent here, but the whole "portrait of a homeless person with my expensive $7000 camera setup" is so tired for me. I'm not criticizing you, just understand that seeing this throughout art school and many years afterwards, the subject matter is a little too fleeting and trivialized. It's almost too easy a subject matter, and for me, there is no connection for me.

I'm just not a fan, though I mean you no offense. Just my US$.02.

The greatest number of exposures I've got out of my M8 battery was about 300-350, with the indicator still showing one bar. I think a lot will depend on how often you review the images. I'll sometimes check the histogram while the file is being saved if the lighting's difficult, but that's about it. I don't review very often.
