MUYG Posted April 9, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi friends, I mostly see that my M8 images has a yellow atmosphere. I am looking others M8 photos and see that most of images predominantly contain some yellow... I am wondering is M9 has same saturation, do you know that and which tools in PS can prevent that dominant yellow color. thanks, have a good day. IWC Doppel Posted April 10, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2012 I am not sure this is the case, I certainly don't have any yellow shift, try setting the white balance with a digital grey card or adjust in LR if a little warm. Some good threads on colour adjustment, you can check with the usual cards but from my understanding the colours in the M8 are better than most. Also try 'auto' white balance in LR if you see the colours looking a little warm. You can see subtle differences between lenses the 35mm MKIV cron is noticeably cooler than the asph which in comparison is a little warmer and 'pinker' but most Leica glass is more colour neutral than others. jaapv Posted April 10, 2012 Share #3 Posted April 10, 2012 Again it is a question of correct raw conversion handling....

What are your white balance settings?
tobey bilek Posted April 11, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 11, 2012 You must depend on correct WB at time of capture. Auto WB does not work as well as manually setting correct color temperature such as daylight. Auto will try to set a yellow cast to counter a green in landscape and green grass will reflect green to a portrait subject. Then daylight is not always perfect either, so it is best if you include a reference color that can be measured with the WB tool in Adobe ACR, top left corner. I use a WhiBal card. Other devices are available. Before you start resetting anything, you must calibrate your monitor to be sure it is displaying colors correctly. The $150 ACER model from the computer store is not a good monitor for color viewing. ACR has tools to push the colors toward blue, the opposite of blue. Since you think all M8 images are yellow, I would tend to think you have a color calibration problem with your monitor. I assure you I do not see yellow M8 images. Guest WPalank Posted April 11, 2012 Share #6 Posted April 11, 2012 Here I was thinking the OP was a shill. But if you take a look at the website he has on his signature, copy and paste (unfortunately not a hyperlink), there is some REALLY nice stuff. I'm assuming you are Uygar? In order to condense the responses: -Are you shooting JPEG or DNG. -What is your White Balance Setting accessible though the "Set" menu? Try the Auto function just to get your feet wet. -When you first see the yellow, is it on the LCD or Processing Software? -If Software, what are you using? (ex:Photoshop, Lightroom, iPhoto...) -When you process your photos and submit to the web for example, are you using the sRGB Color Space? -When you view your images through a Browser (Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer..) is that when they appear yellow? -Is your monitor Calibrated? Sorry for hitting you with so many questions, but the answer is out there. When using AWB with my M9 and M8, I feel it really neutralizes the field. In fact, I have to add just a touch of yellow if it was a bight sunny day.
wda Posted April 11, 2012 Share #7 Posted April 11, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wonder if the OP has a colour perception issue? He does claim to see a yellow tone in other M8 photographs, which is not a general view in my experience.I would advocate use of a neutral grey card for setting white balance in camera; and resetting with each change of lighting. Then judge the results.
tobey bilek Posted April 14, 2012 Share #8 Posted April 14, 2012 The yellow color cast ones are done under tungsten or some artificial light and this is what is giving problems. Auto WB rarely gets these correct with any camera. Use the WhiBalcard or similar at capture . Use raw capture to preserve full WB options later. jaapv Posted April 15, 2012 Share #9 Posted April 15, 2012 The same with sunsets. It is a matter of playing with the saturation and brightness sliders for yellow.
