Michael Hiles Posted April 5, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted April 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I came upon this 1976 picture as I continue to scan my archives. In the fall, burning leaves is a way to clean up properties nestled in the woods. The smell is wonderful and the effect of whisps of smoke on the light through the trees makes it worth trying to capture the atmosphere. Panatomic-X (my favourite film in those days). pauledell Posted April 5, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted April 5, 2012 Michael, Â Ahhh those were the days. Burning leaves is practically a federal offense any more. How I long for the days when we could feel, see and smell the autumn atmosphere. A great shot and thanks for the memories. Â Paul

leicamann Posted April 5, 2012 Share #4  Posted April 5, 2012 This is interesting..just wondering if the scan could be better, single pass for B&W low res will miss much of the subtle detail.   Thanks for sharing  Cheers, JRM
Michael Hiles Posted April 6, 2012 Author Share #5 Â Posted April 6, 2012 Thank you all - much appreciated. Â The scan was done to produce a resolution of about 1000x666 to fit the forum restrictions. I am not sure there is lots of detail. I am sure this was hand held, and the smoke would not help with detail and definition. And my technique has improved over the years - this was before I understood how to consistently make good negatives. The picture made today would look different.
