DES Posted March 28, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) On Friday we went to the Roayal Albert Hall to see the new kid on the block (only 29 years old) Lang Lang, and I have to say, as a life long supporter of Brendel and Richter, he was fantastic. I think for me, the over dramatic arm waving and face affectations was a little off putting, but I think he is attracting a new, vibrant, young following, with his flair, and personallity, and that can only be good for classical music. I am sure he is set for world domination, and when he has a few more "Life Years" under his belt he will be, as he nearly is now, the biggest star in classical music. pauledell Posted March 29, 2012 Share #2 Posted March 29, 2012 Wouldn't this shot with the artist's face artfully superimposed on it be a great cover picture on CD package and also billboards? Paul
StephenPatterson Posted March 29, 2012 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2012 A few years ago my wife and I were visiting Hong Kong and our hotel concierge managed to get 2 tickets for us to see Lang Lang's sold out performance at the HK Cultural Center. It turned out that our 2 tickets were sitting on the stage directly behind Lang Lang with about 20 other patrons, during the concert!!! That was definitely a first for us!!! He is an extremely animated performer, and very good at marketing himself, but his music is magical.

Paul Yes it would, and not to mention the money he would secure from Steinway for doing this.
stuny Posted March 29, 2012 Share #5 Posted March 29, 2012 Dez - Delightful, and my favorite piano manufacturer. Stephen - When in Amsterdam in April of '96 we managed to get last minute tickets to see Kissin at the Concertgebouw. We were lucky enough to be seated in similar seats as you had in Hong Kong. Wonderful.
