grober Posted March 1, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 1, 2007 Sad to think the folks who buy this camera from this recommendation alone without having a single notion about the brand or how to use this unique camera. They'll produce a few hundred blurry, unfocused images, put the M8 on the shelf and quietly go back to their trusty point-n-shoot. Â Wait a minute; haven't we seen this before? Remember the legions of American and British troops who bought their first Leica in the post-war Germany of 1945? Â Good exposure for Leica, of course. Hope they sell bushels of M8s as a result. albertknappmd Posted March 1, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 1, 2007 CNN has the right idea! I doubt that this review will spur sales but it certainly cannot hurt!

I think when they realize that it will cost a bit more than a p&s, they will move on.
charlesphoto99 Posted March 1, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted March 1, 2007 Yeah, but think of all the wonderfully priced used M8's and lenses to go with them when the doctors and lawyers etc trade them back in for dslrs. Â One of the saddest things was when an ex bought her father a Leica M6 for his birthday, apparantly something he always coveted. We were all on vaction at the time in Italy when it was given to him. He walked around with the thing gingerly placed over his neck but continued taking pics with a cheap plastic point and shoot. I'm pretty sure it's sat on a shelf since then collecting dust. They're not easy cameras even for many pros.

peterv Posted March 1, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted March 1, 2007 Well, this CNN guy is right. Â Hope this means more M8 camera's sold, and more happy new Leica-photographers, too! Â Peter
