petert531 Posted March 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Had a really good shoot last night. The only problem is that the model is from Vancouver and her skin is reacting negatively to moving to Toronto. There is a lot of touch up to do. I did a bit here and am posting this image. I did some fashion stuff too and some other simple beauty looks. I am probably alone here, but this is my favourite kind of work. The human face with a twist. I have much to learn here, especially in PS, where this is really crafted. I think my image capture is getting better, but my PS skills are insufficient.... Advertisement Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Hi petert531, Take a look here Ricki . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted March 2, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 2, 2007 Peter - I suspect the cheek is just too strange for people to comment. It looks like a mixture of dye, rash and bruise. Trying to overlook that I see a very interesting pose in which the eyes are set hard and the mouth is either aggressive or slightly pouting. Hair is fine and lighting is almost there. The lighting gives a shadowing off to the edge of the lips and slanted down ways which suggests she'll soon be jowly. I think she needs to be lighted to remove that light shadow. ECliffordSmith Posted March 2, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 2, 2007 Peter, I like the light and shadows very appealing.
milsu Posted March 2, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 2, 2007 She looks like somebody punched her, and she is now pouting, because she didn't manage to take it back. Maybe she is a professional boxing player? (Ricki - Rocky?) Very expressive image.
petert531 Posted March 2, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted March 2, 2007 Thanks for the input.Yes 'crazy' stuff like this is often hard to fathom. It's an area where I plan to work more. Lighting here is insanely critical and thanks for pointing out the shadow. Something does/did bother me. I have some other frames that may not have that problem, but I REALLY liked the angle and expression of the face. I have fallen in love with direct light (this is a beauty dish) but maybe it's not right for this. I have A LOT to learn still. I am posting another (untouched) image from the session. One of the things I simply love about this is, this shot was taken about 1/2 hr before the other one. Totally different. Peter
stuny Posted March 2, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2007 Peter - The sign of a better model -- varied looks. Is it just coincidence that her mouth is pouty? That was one impression that I had of her mouth in the other shot. I like the dramatic lighting, which almost says secret agent -- Had she been in a trench coat with the collar turned up (with or without a fedora) it definitely would have been so. Interestingly, in #1 she looks to be a natural blond. In #2 the dark eyebrows say otehrwise. In recent years it has become fashionable to have broad, dark roots showing, which blessedly Ricki seems to have avoided. On a purely personal taste note, overlooking the stuff on her cheek, I find her much more attractive in #1.
