It just seems to work and let me get on with it. Not hit any walls here. I am happy with the whole SYSTEM. I retired ten months ago with the Mac Air. I left the huge Mac Pro (tower) behind. There are aspects of the Mac that are excellent and the tight integration of hardware and operating system is better than with Windows. However; the factors leading me to Windows from Apple are: 1) Hardware reliability. In 25 years of working with/on computers 3 of 30+ DOS/Windows units had hardware failures, but 7 of the 8 Macs failed (motherboard, keypad, display, hard drive, memory). With this sample size, it has to be more than just random occurrence. AppleCare service has been excellent, but the need for it is unimpressive. Also, this reliability level requires spending the $250 extra cost for AppleCare which further adds to the Mac price penalty. 2) Apple looks like they are taking their eye off the ball on Mac OS-X in favor of IOS for the iPad/iPhone. Year-by-year more of the program crashes and other irregularities that use to infest Windows happen. By contrast, Windows 7 is much better in this regard than XP. 3) Compatibility of older software and hardware. Apple seems to delight in obsolescence, while most of my older software and hardware can work with Windows 7. For me this includes Minolta film scanners and a bunch of amateur radio software. Second that, there are also some excellent value with the Mac mini, now if at a later time if feel you need something more powerful..... just make sure you do your research, PC world, Mac World,CNET, Legit hardware reviews etc..shop for info and knowledge first and THEN make your decision I use PC only because I have to, but I love Linux ,Mac IS Linux with the DRM rights, so you won't have driver and other comparability issues. My only gripe about MAC is that you have to buy their hardware, they should allow MAC to be installed on whatever hardware you want or release the OS with a "recommended hardware list " . It is U*x, primarily influenced by BSD as was Linux, but it has several proprietary parts with roots in neXt from the Eighties. OS-X has some features compiled into the kernel that Linux does not have. However, for purposes of quotidian, especially concerning use of its shells, it's comfortable for Linux fans. Apple have control over hardware and software which is why their stuff just works. None of the 'not supported by this device' rubbish.
