CedricVerhelst Posted March 21, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday I went jogging with my M9 for the first time. I had attached the MS Optical Super Triplet Perar 35mm, secured it with the Artisan & Artist leather wrist strap and put it in the Artisan & Artist neoprene pouch and was all set, hoping to catch some interesting scenery. The light was quite nice —the sun was starting to set— so I decided to run towards a more open area. And then… I bumped into a construction site with magnificent machinery. Tractors and other heavy equipment, some completely painted white with stone powder and sand. Like sculptures… standing there in an open field. I guess they hadn't stopped working long before because I could still smell the wet concrete and when I came closer, I noticed the engines were a bit warm. There was no-one there, though. So I could walk around freely and take pictures. All pictures are on my blog, click here to view. These are two of them. As always, all your comments are welcome, positive and negative. Thank you for watching.
Advertisement Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hi CedricVerhelst, Take a look here Out jogging with M9… and bumped into these magnificent machines. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted March 21, 2012 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2012 Cedric - I think these would be even stronger if you increase the shadow slider a bit to darken the machine.
pauledell Posted March 21, 2012 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2012 Cedric, Fine shots with the composition and sharpness, but as Stuart has said, need some darkening adjustment for exposure. Too washed out. Paul
CedricVerhelst Posted March 22, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted March 22, 2012 Thank you for your replies. The washed out look was actually something I deliberately tried to achieve by pushing 'fill light' in LR. I felt it fitted the subject because the machines were actually very white and because of the setting sun there were no more real shadows too. I thought that by strengthening that effect a bit, it would add to the ethereal atmosphere. But it seems like I have overdone it according to you. I will keep that in mind next time. stuny Posted March 22, 2012 Share #5 Posted March 22, 2012 Cedric - Looking at these again on my work monitor (inferior to my home monitor partly due to its darker rendering) they look fine to me, but I am not the artist who created the photos. jimofnyc Posted March 27, 2012 Share #6 Posted March 27, 2012 They almost look as if they've been dusted in some fine white powder...
Morry Katz Posted April 5, 2012 Share #7 Posted April 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) They look decidedly spooky. Well done.
