IMHO my test shows more how truly amazing the Summicron is. Most of my other Leica lenses would not hold up this well wide-open scanned at 4000 ppi (equivalent to 18.5 megapixels)

The Heliar is still a quite decent lens - on a par with a Canon or Nikon medium-speed medium-tele - in a very small package.

18.5 MP at 72 dpi on the computer screen (100% viewing) is an image larger than 60 inches. You're viewing this at much closer than any print that size would be viewed. Now think about how large you will print this image for yourself. In real terms and print sizes there will be little and probably no difference between the two lenses. How may 60 inch prints have you made lately and viewed at 12 inches? More likely 8x12 inches or less?

For the money I don't think you can beat the 75/f/2.5 Heliar, for under $300 I've managed to get very good results with this lens on a Bessa R3M ( need a better scanner though )..Bill ~

Donald, while you are correct about prints that large, if you project slides, 60 inches is quite manageable and you will readily see the difference between a good (Heliar) and a better (Summicron) lens.
