ryee3 Posted March 16, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 16, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have 2 working DMRs on an R8 and R9. Trying to decide whether to keep them for historical and collector reasons or to put them up for sale? When Leica comes up with some R solution will the values of the DMRs go up or down? I assume it will keep its value. I like the DMRs for the wide angles lenses and wide angle zooms that don't fit on my Canons and the auto aperture capabilities of the DMR:D. Batteries are no longer a problem thanks to Michael Bass.

Apart the above consideration , the Ffordes prices above quoted make me think that : 1) If you like to sell, the money you can hope to bring in is no bad : good for financing something else. 2) As USER items their price will surely drop in the next years... even if (hopefully) Leica will stay as a valued brand in Digital Cameras, a user will be, as years go on, less and less confident in acquiring an electronic device which is hardly maintainable. 3) But if Leica will stay as a valued brand, a fine working DMR (with body) will maintain, imho, a collector's value... may be even more than, say, a M8 or M9... an ill fated but smartly designed system which has had a part of its own in the troubled but successful transition of Leica to the digital world... collectors like a lot those "landmark - even - if - unsuccessful - models"... think of Leica M5 or Leica 72... Probably, if I were you, I'd keep one apart (the finest), much carefully, and sell NOW or use to "death" the other...
gbealnz Posted March 16, 2012 Share #5 Posted March 16, 2012 Thanks Ken, took a look. While the desire to try this is there, the economics don't really stack up to me. Gary
