I had an older 35 lux with my M6 but didn't keep the kit long enough to really appreciate it. When I bought the summicron I was shooting with my M8. When I got the M9 I went back to primarily shooting 50mm lenses.  I took out the 35 cron last weekend and shot at a party in afternoon light, mostly at f4-5.6. Looking at the shots I was immediately impressed with the "depth" of the images. I'll include one that really impressed me.  As I said, it's been a while since I used this lens, but it's definitely back in the kit!  Welcome, dear visitor! I'm on my third (the latest, but before coding), and can't imagine not having one handy. Small, sharp, easy to operate, with a great look and proven track record. Crisp clear images. A joy to use. I should use mine more often on the M9. Â I finally got my 35/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH perfectly adjusted for f/1.4 by DAG. Of course, it has quite a focus shift when stopping down, but delivers wonderful images. I am using that lens as well on a NEX-5N. There focus shift is a mute point. kokoshawnuff Posted March 14, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted March 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's curious, whenever I read those threads asking "which 35mm?", as to why there are always quite a few people that dislike the cron 35 ASPH (and not just people that prefer a classic look). Â Owning this lens I think it is on par with those lenses considered the 'best' of the brand (cron 90 AA, Apo Telyt 135, 50 Lux ASPH, MEM 90mm). So I don't know if those with an aversion to it have perhaps never used it and are proclaiming the opinions of other's as their own, or if they really have found fault in an almost perfect lens. CedricVerhelst Posted March 14, 2012 Share #9  Posted March 14, 2012 true!  I started off with a 35cron asph. One year later, I decided it was time to try that highly praised 50lux asph. At first I was bokeh-frenzied but for quick reportageshots and street photography, there really is nothing like a 35. And the cron is so easy to focus, so light, so unobtrusive. When you put the camera to your eye, you cannot always grasp the picture as easily as with a 50 but that is actually the strength of the 35. The extra space near the edges, that you may have left out when composing too rigidly, gives the real life atmosphere back to the picture… And you only realize it when selecting your pictures on the screen afterwards. It may be a strange way of thinking for some but I like these kind of 'accidental' photographs. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

When I had the M6/old 35 summilux combo I didn't like the fact that the lens was so small. Back then I didn't know about the focus issues with that lens etc, but I know my fingers were cramped working with it. This 35 summicron is a great tradeoff between speed and size. Â I would love to compare against a 35 ASPH. Â For really small, I have 3.5 Summaron and 50 3.5 Red Scale. There were yummy on film and the few shots I made with the M8 and those two were also nice. Thanks.  I use aperture I used auto RGB curves a tiny nudge on the saturation, definition, and vibrancy and auto RGB on the levels  very little changes! The asph is slightly sharper at F2 in the corners but the V4 'paints ' with the Leica look that I love. Â I use the asph for 'things', and the V4 for people photo's. The one at the far left looks like a Brian. The woman in the middle looks like a Carol. The woman on the right looks like a Jane. The man next to her in the pale blue shirt looks like a Jim.
