WIDE...... is what I am chasing for some B&W stuff(if I can find them would be great, impossible in OZ),.... It's too late for me and many others, but you may still stand a chance! ...isn't it amazing the allure exerted on grown-up, sensible men by the sniff of a screw ..mount camera body...? But seriously... The Bessa L is LTM, with (IIRC) no built in viewfinder. Why not go the whole hog and get a Leica screwmount body? I know you say you want TTL but it really ain't that hard - if I can do it anyone can You would then also be able to add a 50 in the future for the full unplugged/retro experience. It does have the TTL meter thought, with a indicator on the back of the body for correct exposure. Imants, I know for a fact that they have a parcel pixies in Oz too. Amazingly, if you buy a lens from a seller in say Europe or USA, somehow it will eventually magic its way over to you! The 25mm Skopar is great, will work very well on the L body, or any of the LTM's, or even a Zorki!. You should find them on e bay, or I can send you a link to a UK s/h retailer. If you haven't tried a Leica LTM I seriously recommend you to before buying an alternative. Might be just a box but WHAT a box. As for older Leica glass, the Elmars are all very good, the Summar produces lovely soft images and the Summarit is somewhere in between. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Feel to be happy with a 35? Very good and cheap an old Summaron 3,5 3,5 LTM... fascinating old style shape...nice..can find today in Europe at less than 300 Euros. You intend WIDE as ooomph...WIIIIIDE ?: little problems of money and results: old Hektors 28 6,3 (uh...really 6,3) are lovely but in the range of 500-700 Euros: I have it, close to 8-11 and you have an appreciable B&W lens...tiny tiny tiny, delicious, seems a retracted one... Want exaggerate and be admired by people : search round and round, spend in the range of 1000 Euros and buy the Super Angulon 21 f4 (ALL are LTM, the so called BMs have a screw-to bayonet adapter easily removable); not to be used at f4 is the only limit, but, boy, is terribly NICE ! More brilliant in chroming than all the others Leitz lenses (think an attitude of Schneider factory...), looks like a small massive jewel in the body. ..and get any finder you like... Yes, I have recently set myself to shooting with an old IIIc with only available light....armed with merely my reason and the sunny 16 principle. Guest stnami Posted March 1, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 1, 2007 I am not too keen on the Leica style of film loading, but interested in the old screw lenses and the Bessa L fits the ctriteria. The other Bessas are Bayonet M mounts? The 25mm Skopar looks like a good starting point for these ideas of mind which actually relates to portraits in a couple of almost defunct towns that are getting bowled over by a sudden development and has created a strange mix of residents and architecture. I tried the digital world but they are all mmmmd to a state of illogical frenzy, film seemed dormant so that's why I posted here, Might trouble you for that UK link James. Guest stnami Posted March 20, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 20, 2007 The plan is ... wait a couple of months pick up the new Bessa R4M (built in parallax projected framelines for 21, 25, 28, 35, and 50mm lenses), a few Leica (old and new)and eventually head for the M8/9 lenses.
