Advertisement Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Hi spylaw4, Take a look here LR4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
vanhulsenbeek Posted March 6, 2012 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2012 It seems that LR4 - the full version is now available from Adobe. Also seems only to be a trial version. No upgrade or full version purchase available.
vanhulsenbeek Posted March 6, 2012 Share #3 Posted March 6, 2012 Also seems only to be a trial version. No upgrade or full version purchase available. Correction: once you have installed, you get the option to buy or upgrade. The inital Adobe page is a little confusing as it only offers the trial. stunsworth Posted March 6, 2012 Share #4 Posted March 6, 2012 They've halved the cost too.$79 for the upgrade, don't know the sterling equivalent - I'd guess £60-70. Presumably this is to compete with Apple's price decrease of Aperture when they added it to the app store.
UliWer Posted March 6, 2012 Share #5 Posted March 6, 2012 Lightroom 4.0 Now Available The new version has 21 profiles for Leica M-lenses. Didn't try yet but would be interested in experiences from others.

wattsy Posted March 6, 2012 Share #8 Posted March 6, 2012 I will soon find out if the Leica LR credit I have been saving up works on LR4. Probably not yet. I seem to recall it was a month or so before Leica updated the previous download entitlement (when it went from LR2 to LR3). I'd check with Leica before using up your TAN code. I seem to recall it was a month or so before Leica updated the previous download entitlement (when it went from LR2 to LR3). I'd check with Leica before using up your TAN code. You are correct. LR3 is the only option available right now.
viramati Posted March 6, 2012 Share #12 Posted March 6, 2012 I couldn't get the beta version to work properly just took forever after starting up (about 5 minutes) before it would start operating. think I will wait a while before installing again

viramati Posted March 6, 2012 Share #14 Posted March 6, 2012 In reality the only real reason I would need to upgrade is if the RAW converter is a load better in version 4. when I changed from LR2 to 3 it was like getting a new camera and I don't know if this is the case this time. What are the real advantages in the new version as regards to processing?
Jaybob Posted March 6, 2012 Share #15 Posted March 6, 2012 In LR4 Lens corrections are availiable for Leica LEICA APO-SUMMICRON-M 75 mm f/2 ASPH. Leica LEICA APO-SUMMICRON-M 90 mm f/2 ASPH. Leica LEICA APO-TELYT-M 135 mm f/3.4 ASPH. Leica LEICA ELMAR-M 24 mm f/3.8 ASPH. Leica LEICA ELMARIT-M 28 mm f/2.8 ASPH. Leica LEICA ELMARIT-M 90 mm f/2.8 Leica LEICA ELMARIT-S 1:2.8/30 mm ASPH. Leica LEICA MACRO-ELMAR-M 90 mm f/4 Leica LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH. Leica LEICA SUMMARIT-M 35 mm f/2.5 Leica LEICA SUMMARIT-M 50 mm f/2.5 Leica LEICA SUMMARIT-M 75 mm f/2.5 Leica LEICA SUMMARIT-M 90 mm f/2.5 Leica LEICA SUMMICRON-M 28 mm f/2 ASPH. Leica LEICA SUMMICRON-M 35 mm f/2 ASPH. Leica LEICA SUMMICRON-M 50 mm f/2 Leica LEICA SUMMILUX-M 21 mm f/1.4 ASPH. Leica LEICA SUMMILUX-M 24 mm f/1.4 ASPH. Leica LEICA SUMMILUX-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH. Leica LEICA SUMMILUX-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. Leica LEICA SUPER-ELMAR-M 18 mm f/3.8 ASPH. Leica LEICA SUPER-ELMAR-M 21 mm f/3.4 ASPH. in addition to the S lenses that were already there... Before you run out and spend the money, the "corrections" are also available in the release candidate of the new camera raw which works in perfectly FINE in Photoshop CS5 and LR3. Download Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7 Release Candidate - Adobe Labs I use Adobe LR3 lens corrections on some of my Nikon lenses, the 17-35 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 VR (version one) benefit from it the most, mostly correcting barrel distortion in the wider zoom and vignetting in the tele zoom. I have stopped using corrections on the Nikon primes, in my case, 55 1.2, 55 2.8 micro, 85 1.4, 105 2 defocus, and 300 2.8 mostly because I see no difference or improvement in what the image looks like. I do not use it on the 28-70 2.8 zoom, one, because it's not listed, and two, because it doesn't do anything. I would contend the image quality of almost ALL of these M lenses listed are not going to benefit greatly or AT ALL from software "correction". When I apply the Adobe 50 Summicron "correction" to images I have taken with a 50 Summicron, it does absoutely nothing, mostly because it didn't need to be corrected in the first place. The signature of the Leica lens is what I'm looking for, not Adobe's corrected version. Just my opinion. Jay
01af Posted March 6, 2012 Share #16 Posted March 6, 2012 When I changed from LR2 to 3 it was like getting a new camera and I don't know if this is the case this time. Basically it is the case indeed. Maybe the difference is somewhat less dramatic than the last time but there definitely is a difference for the better (new 2012 process, among other things). What are the real advantages in the new version as regards to processing? The new raw converter is worth triple the upgrade price. It makes a noticeable difference. I upgraded this morning. In 5 minutes it was installed and my lr 4 beta files (about 3,500) were transferred. Next I upgraded and imported my lr 3 catalogue (about 50,000 photos) into the new lr4 catalogue. The actual import of photos was in progress when I left home. When I left 13,000 had transferred after about 7 minutes. Looks goo. 01af Posted March 6, 2012 Share #19 Posted March 6, 2012 Next I upgraded and imported my Lr 3 catalogue (about 50,000 photos) into the new Lr 4 catalogue. The actual import of photos was in progress when I left home. Beware! I didn't try it myself yet ... but according to hearsay, Lr 4 won't import any changes to the contrast curve. So pictures which just use the default contrast curve will be fine after the transfer but for those where the curve was edited, allegedly it will be back to the default curve after transfer. So before importing your old catalogues to Lr 4, make sure you have a back-up somewhere until this bug gets sorted out.
Jaybob Posted March 6, 2012 Share #20 Posted March 6, 2012 Are there profiles for any of the Zeiss or Voigtlander M Lenses? Just what appears to be the full line of Zeiss ZE and ZF, from 18mm to 100mm, Distagons and Planars. They may have been there before, I never looked. No Voightlander lenses are listed.
