50mm Summilux & 90 Summicron.

I had the 50mm Summilux for several months just sitting in my safe as I had no camera body to go with it, as I had been saving for an M9 or M10.

 

My 90mm Summicron finally just arrived last week from the good people at Camerapro in Queensland Australia. (Who I found to be the most professional and helpful company I have ever dealt with for any product, I am not affiliated with them in anyway but my experience with them was so positive I felt I had to let other Leica fans know)

 

So now I had two Leica lenses with no camera bodies to attach them too and virtually no money to buy one.

 

I heard good things about the Sony NEX-7 so I thought rather than having my lenses sit there another 6-12 months while I save for a Leica body I decided to buy the Sony.

 

It is one great camera. My favorite feature apart from the great image quality and high resolution is the focus peaking indicator.

 

I really do hope Leica introduces that as a feature in the M10 to compliment the RF focusing.

Isn't the world a strange place:rolleyes:... all the people who would sell their mother for a new 50 Summilux and/or a 90 Summicron and there you had both of them but without the camera;).

 

Did you ever consider buying just the 50 Summilux and a digital Leica body, M8 or M9, new or second hand, rather than the 90 Summicron? May have been more satisfying. With the Sony you have a cropped sensor regardless.

I wouldn't fit a turbocharged Nissan engine into a Porsche chassis but that's just me

 

I would get a nice used M8 experiment and learn then get the M9 without losing too much on the M8 (a lot lees than the NEX7 will depreciate) when the 10 comes out

 

Seems like you will get a 9 or 10 eventually.

A camera body with one lens, a 75mm equiv. focal length, not my cup of tea. I'd rather spent the money on a M6 to enjoy the Summilux at its best.
