The body of an ad reads "3 cam version" Can someone tell me if this is good, bad, desirable or really makes no difference. My m9 kit is complete and this is the last piece to my "kit" for my Canon 5D Mark II as suggested by a senior member here. I already have the adapter for the Canon. Any help on this will be very much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Hello Ray,

There is only one type of Apo-Macro-Elmarit-R 2.8/100 regarding lens optical.

If to be used with your 5D II every A-M-E-R will do the same job with adaptor.

3 cam or ROM versions are only for Leica R (...SL or R9...) users to choose from.

Regards.

Arnaud

As Arnaud said, there was only a 3-cam version made. I use a 100/2.8 APO-Macro-Elmarit-R for macro photography on my 5D Mark II and I've never seen a lens to rival this legendary lens. Examples with crop below.

Thanks for the help everyone. I can't wait to get it now. I have been looking on ebay for about a year and got great deal on one. Thanks for the images also, they really have me inspired. I like macro work because there is no weather too bad that you can't have some enjoyment at table top work.

Pete - impressive images indeed. I have the EF 100mm f2.8 Macro on my 5D MkII and I am not sure I would achieve the same level of detail. What is the adaptor you use and who supplies?

Keith,

Thank you for your kind words. I use the CameraQuest adaptor that's available through ... CameraQuest:). The adaptor is very well machined from brass and, unlike some other adaptors, stays on the camera and allow R lenses to be changed at will.

For full disclosure I have no connection to the product or the seller.
