Keith (M) Posted February 11, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is anyone using the Massive Dev iPhone app and if so, how do find it in terms of useability etc? At the moment I am using a little electronic timer on which I can set three different times so wonder if there is added useful functionality in the app.

Guest Holy Moly Posted February 11, 2012 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2012 It's the best item in my bathroom to develop films. Fascinating 'breathing' of the huge digital numbers as an indication to agitate in given frequent time laps plus the 'clicks' from the loudspeaker. My russian chronograph from Poljot rests somewhere.........
andybarton Posted February 11, 2012 Share #3 Posted February 11, 2012 It's very useful and I use it for all my developing. It's very easy to edit the recommendations to suit any particular favourite procedures you have and save them as favourites.

I agree with the above; it is great in the darkroom as well, with its red light etc. Very customizable settings etc.... Well worth the small fee. Keith (M) Posted February 11, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted February 11, 2012 Thank you all for the feedback. I have now splurged this week's pocket money on the app.
erl Posted February 12, 2012 Share #6 Posted February 12, 2012 I nearly splurged on it because it looks like a 'sexy' app. However, all my developing has been standardized long ago, by other means (JOBO), so I am struggling to justify the app, despite it's cheap cost. It's all on the web anyway. Have I missed some vital feature? (probably )

earleygallery Posted February 15, 2012 Share #8 Posted February 15, 2012 Very useful app! Only problem is that my phone goes into 'sleep' mode while it's running after a couple of minutes, unless I tap the screen to keep it active.

Best wishes Mike iPhone4S - Settings - General - Autolock - change to 'Never' (temporarily of course!). Unless someone knows a better way?
Double Negative Posted February 15, 2012 Share #11 Posted February 15, 2012 Set your auto lock to 5m - no issues here.

Only problem is that my phone goes into 'sleep' mode while it's running after a couple of minutes, unless I tap the screen to keep it active. Normally my phone goes to sleep in 20 seconds, but never when I run this app, so it must be in the app´s settings.

That's what I thought, too - but I checked. No luck.
alw Posted February 16, 2012 Share #14 Posted February 16, 2012 That's what I thought, too - but I checked. No luck. Yep, there are no settings for that. It must be built-in then and it works differently depending on iPhone version/iOS version...?

I just ran the app on my iPhone4S and it kept running for the set period, over-riding the normal lock-screen setting. So perhaps iOS5 is needed? leicameter Posted February 16, 2012 Share #16 Posted February 16, 2012 Anybody unsing the android version?
Double Negative Posted February 16, 2012 Share #17 Posted February 16, 2012 iOS5 isn't needed (I'm running 4.2.x IIRC), but it might be somewhat dependent on the version. Apps should be able to override the sleep (autolock) settings - for example, GPS (nav) apps.
cbretteville Posted February 16, 2012 Share #18 Posted February 16, 2012 I have an old version of the app, v1.5. It changed publisher in 2010 when Digitaltruth bought the rights to it and those of us that had payed the original developer money would have to pay Digitaltrruth too to get updates. Not even a discount was awarded the early adopters. This p****d me off. I use it as a reference when I can't be bothered to go to the web page and prefer my Paterson triple timer when developing film. Carl

I'm still on v1.5 also. I'm not buying it again. The old one works fine.
Double Negative Posted February 16, 2012 Share #20 Posted February 16, 2012 Wow, just found this thread on their support forum about the upgrade fiasco. That IS bullshit. EDIT: I sent them an email to see if they'll do the Right Thing. We'll see how that works out.
