Advertisement Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Hi Nuit, Take a look here 6 bit serial no.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted February 6, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted February 6, 2012 All lenses having left the factory since July 1st, 2006 do have the new coding normally so the first serial numbers should be larger than 3,900,000 i guess.
bocaburger Posted February 6, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted February 6, 2012 You do know that the only thing different about a coded lens are the pits engraved/painted in the rear flange, right? A lens subsequently coded by Leica would be the same as one which came from the factory coded. And in terms of functionality, if done properly an aftermarket-milled coding has the same functionality as a factory coding.

Are you sure? when Leica code a pre-coding lens, they calibrate it for digital i've been told. Don't ask me what such calibrating may consist in though. My dremel tool cannot answer anyway.
