bradhusick Posted February 25, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here are a couple aerial photos taken with the M8 and the 90mm Elmarit-M f/2.8 lens shot in St. Petersburg, FL from an altitude of 1000 ft. These were taken through the side windows and I used no filters. I haven't seen any aerial photos in this forum, so I post these for your enjoyment. ISO 640, 1/750sec. Â The close crops are at 100%. innerimager Posted February 25, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 25, 2007 I love the colors in #1 (and crop), nice shots and impressive lens! Helps confirm my decision to go with the elmarit for my 90mm. best....Peter
scott kirkpatrick Posted February 25, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 25, 2007 They're nice and clear, I guess because of the low altitude. Are you shooting from the passenger side of a Cessna, whose windows will open up to let you shoot without having to go through the plexiglass? sergiolov Posted February 25, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted February 25, 2007 Posting these.....so you are not feeling alone.. Â At what aperture were those taken? Fine work. Sergio
bradhusick Posted February 27, 2007 Author Share #5 Â Posted February 27, 2007 My shots were taken through the fixed windows of a Cessna 182. The aperture was approx. f5.6. Â Very nice shots, Sergio. -Brad

Otherwise focal lengths longer than 35 mm make pretty useless images due to optical degradation.  The old man from the Age of Biplanes
SteveP Posted February 27, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted February 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) And if you open the window on a Cessna, the slipstream holds it open for you. Of course, it's more photo-fun just to fly with the door off :-) Check that seatbelt, though...
Photoskeptic Posted February 27, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted February 27, 2007 I know you stated ISO 640, however the fourth shot looks pretty grainy. Might be JPEG artifacts, though.
sergiolov Posted February 27, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted February 27, 2007 Brad, the reason I asked about aperture is because I think that iso 640 is a bit to high. For full light aerials I usually use 160-320 at f4 and get shutter speeds faster than 1/1000. My 172 is modified to open the two rear passenger windows in the inside direction, and this is very practical. Sergio
