Someone told me that if I want to upgrade to 6 bit, leica might need charge additional fee on top of the 6bit adapter installation. Is that so? Â Â If i am not mistaken when I update my 75lux to 6bit, silently Leica actually readjust the lens shift to normal without additional fee, but that was 4 years ago. I sent in a 75 Summilux for a new hood, and also asked them to check it because the focus was tighter than my other lenses and I wasn't sure if it was normal. They charged me an extra $175 for the 'checking' and nothing was really different when I got it back, nor did they report any problems. I did the job with total success myself, using the Match Technical coding kit available from Robert White. Here is one small tip: as well as using a black pen for the appropriate marks, you need to use a Tippex Shake & Squeeze pen to fill in the screw head on the mount within the coding area, otherwise the camera reads the screw-head as a black code mark. Not having to manually code, which is not necessary with the 90 except for sorting in Lightroom. Having the lens checked and calibrated was nice. Having the Leica test certificate, as well as factory 6-bit coding definitely helps the resale value, but since I will not be selling it that point is pretty silly.  Mainly I had my 90 coded because it was my only lens that wasn't... Sure you can send the lens to Solms, but NJ is less expensive, there are no international shipping or customs issues, and the technicians are equally proficient. I sent it to Leica Milton Keynes where some 6-bit coding could be done but this lens could only be done in Solms. I did not ask for the lens to be adjusted after coding, I assumed that they could hardly send back a bad focusing lens. I think they changed the mount, but they did a great job, it looks like any other coded lens. The cost was not exhorbitant (for Leica) about €130?. I seem to remember there was a price list at the time. My 90mm Elmarit-M is probably my best buy as far as a Leica lens goes, £595 used from a Leica dealer but in mint condition.  Jeff Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
