LotharZhou Posted January 27, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted January 27, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just received from red dot cameras, wonderful service, I am on the waiting list for less than 2 months and got this baby. Â The Leica shop in Frankfurt told me to wait for 10 months, crazy. Very very happy now, the focus is spot on!

jaapv Posted January 27, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted January 27, 2012 I get the impression that the supply of optical glass is flowing again - Lenses are popping up left, right and centre.
Double Negative Posted January 28, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted January 28, 2012 Very cool, LotharZhou! It's a fantastic lens, enjoy it! The chrome ones are especially sublime. Deliberate1 Posted January 28, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted January 28, 2012 I got mine about three weeks ago and found the integrated hood sticky when you pull it out or retract it. Does yours do this? Thanks David
LotharZhou Posted January 29, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted January 29, 2012 it's without doult the best lens I ever used, together with the summicron 28, thanks! Â Very cool, LotharZhou! LotharZhou Posted January 29, 2012 Author Share #7 Â Posted January 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I guess I can't say it's very sticky, but it's definitely not smooth. I think it's pretty normal. Also my focus ring is tight, but smoothly tight. Â I got mine about three weeks ago and found the integrated hood sticky when you pull it out or retract it. philipus Posted January 29, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted January 29, 2012 Has anyone compared the waiting lists for European dealers? Is it possible to say who has the shorter waiting time?
LotharZhou Posted January 29, 2012 Author Share #9 Â Posted January 29, 2012 I asked richard caplan and they never had a definite answer and call me back, the Rahn foto in frankfurt told me to wait until september or October. Â So far red dot cameras are the fastest. Â Has anyone compared the waiting lists for European dealers? Is it possible to say who has the shorter waiting time? philipus Posted January 30, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted January 30, 2012 Thanks Lothar. I guess big dealers would be the fastest.
asmith Posted January 30, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted January 30, 2012 I find that it's best to have a long term relationship with one approved Leica dealer and make sure they know what your interests are and what you might be likely to buy. Then you'll be high on their list for any new or scarce item. Alwyn
MarkP Posted January 30, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted January 30, 2012 it's without doult the best lens I ever used, together with the summicron 28, thanks! Â I absolutely agree. My favourite two lens combo, albeit in black. Â Mark

I would think nothing moves one up the list faster than lens waiting list than a prepayment, money talks!
Guest stanjan0 Posted January 30, 2012 Share #14 Â Posted January 30, 2012 Jaap, in the US of A Leica lens are not popping up left, right and center, I ordered a Leica 90mm f/2 from the largest camera store in NYC B&W on 7-4-2011 and am still waiting and I already paid for it. pedaes Posted January 30, 2012 Share #15 Â Posted January 30, 2012 I think there must have been a large batch of Summilux 50 made just before the Christmas holiday, as I ordered from RD on the 19th December and it was in and collected on the 10th January. LotharZhou Posted January 30, 2012 Author Share #17 Â Posted January 30, 2012 Yeah, the trick is make a quick phone call to them and chase them up every 2 weeks, they said the same to me, 3-4 months, and after 3 phone calls they delivered to me earlier. Good luck! Â I just received a reply from Red Dot - they now say 4-6 months...
