jaapv Posted January 19, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Interesting - though not rare, it is a lens we do not see all that often. Two on e-Bay now, one a beater and one more interesting, close to mint and boxed as far as I could make out; 230654675888
Advertisement Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Hi jaapv, Take a look here 400-5.0 V. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted January 19, 2012 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2012 Price not low.... but looks really fine considering age : my one is in much worst aspect, (even if with fine glass) and costed about 1/3 2 years ago; it's HEAVY... even if bigger in length, the 5,6/6,8 are better balanced : the 400 f5 first version (conical mount) is heavier again... The seller gives lot of info, pics, examples, ways to use.... he just forgets to say that it can be used also on the Televit...
jc_braconi Posted January 19, 2012 Share #3 Posted January 19, 2012 Looks very expensive for me, I'ld wait that Leicashop or others have one for sale
jaapv Posted January 19, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted January 19, 2012 Oh - I was not planning on buying it - it was just the juxtaposition of the two lenses - one near-mint, one that has been to the wars.. If you want to see unrealistic prices, have a look at the 400 and 560 Telyts on the Bay...

jaapv Posted January 20, 2012 Author Share #8 Posted January 20, 2012 270508614174 !!!! .... price-to-weight... Did you notice the Televit is heavily rusted? That lens has been stored in very moist conditions. The photos do not show the aperture blades....
luigi bertolotti Posted January 20, 2012 Share #9 Posted January 20, 2012 At least, they are so honest to show well enlarged the rusted details of the Televit... ... well done, given the asked price... The aperture blades are, as you surely know, inside the 14137... indeed, given the rest, it would be better to give a look at...
jaapv Posted January 20, 2012 Author Share #10 Posted January 20, 2012 Well given that it is overpriced by a factor 5, and with the rust maybe more, I have no interest..
luigi bertolotti Posted January 20, 2012 Share #11 Posted January 20, 2012 Jaap... have you "scouted" the feasability of 560 6,8 on Televit ? Probably doesn't worth the cost... but I'd be cuorios to know what could be the quotation of the threaded "tube" I imagined...
jaapv Posted January 20, 2012 Author Share #12 Posted January 20, 2012 No - I'm starting with the 400, but if I find a 560 V mount at a good price I might be tempted. I'll probably sell my 400/6.8 if I'm happy with a 5.6 when I get it.
Guest Posted January 20, 2012 Share #13 Posted January 20, 2012 Early in the morning I noticed a Telyt 5.0 - 400 through the shopwindow at a local dealer for 700 €. But he is offering used items without guarantee...

luigi bertolotti Posted January 21, 2012 Share #16 Posted January 21, 2012 Who are we to blame them? It takes just one fool.... Yep... no doubt they deserve the right to ask any amount they like... I was just a bit surprised for is a seller that I know very well and usually sets prices in a "not foolish" range (even if not in the low - but are very trustable in tech details) : I thought that they would had preferred to sell such an item at one of their auctions... but who knows... "smart selling" is a subtle art... "peaking" a single rare item can have a positive effect on all the potential value of your warehouse....
jc_braconi Posted January 21, 2012 Share #17 Posted January 21, 2012 ... "smart selling" is a subtle art... "peaking" a single rare item can have a positive effect on all the potential value of your warehouse.... My opinion after visiting them last time in 2010 is that they have some rare items, sometimes they put one of them for selling and after awhile is no more on the online catalog... but what happens in realty ? did they really sold it and people says Whaoo ! there is one wealthy collector that buy it, but may be it returned in the security vault with the other rare items that makes some apparition ... Anyway, apart what is it for sale in the shop, they have employees that examine, take pictures, catalog items, making pages on their web site items coming from the entire world to be next on the auction sales I have witnessed this.
