iLikeLeica Posted January 14, 2012 Share #1  Posted January 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) hello -  postman delivered two new toys over the last couple of days  * new summarit 75mm  * old 1962 Summilux 50mm  I can already feel i'll make some great pictures with them, but just after a couple of days shooting i can allready tell they're not the easiest of lenses to work with...  the summarit is just thougher to focus on because of longer focal and smaller viewfinder area - guess at low apertures it makes is just less forgiving  summilux - the one stop difference with my summicron is noteable but the focusring needs a way longer 'path' - if that makes sense - to get the subject too sharp..  just a couple of initial findings - i'll get on with it now and shoot...  cheers  PS - i shoot with an M8
Advertisement Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Hi iLikeLeica, Take a look here new toys are always a challenge too. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted January 14, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted January 14, 2012 The 75 is a super lens which might benefit from a magnifier on your eyepiece. Can't really comment on the 50 other than to say that a longer throw in focusing can lead to more accurate settings.
carylwithay Posted January 14, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted January 14, 2012 Sounds like lots of fun to me. Good luck Caryl
Bobitybob Posted January 14, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted January 14, 2012 I can't speck for the Summilux as I don't have one but I've never had any problems focusing my Summarit 75. I've found it to be very sharp with or without a magnifier. Usually with these things I've found its just a matter of practice until you get used to the lens and its individual quarks. What a great opportunity to get out and take more photographs! Â Good luck with your new lenses.
