jpattison Posted January 11, 2012 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2012 Only comment I can make is that this is a 39mm thread mount lens with an original Leitz LTM to M adapter, just by looking at the mount. here's one for a 90mm... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Leica-screw-M-90mm-lens-adapter-/130628445926?pt=UK_Photography_CameraLenses_Lens_caps_hoods_adaptors_ET&hash=item1e6a0fe6e6 Regards,John
TomB_tx Posted January 11, 2012 Share #3 Posted January 11, 2012 Agreed - it does look like a thread mount with an M adapter - the circular cutouts have no other function than to remove it. Besides, at the time the Zunow was made, didn't Leitz have the M-mount sewed up with patents?
luigi bertolotti Posted January 11, 2012 Share #4 Posted January 11, 2012 I agree that it's probably an adapter... but not a Leitz original : they have a typical cutout along the external ring.
doubice Posted January 12, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 12, 2012 so..1) ...........this is made with rare earth glass? 2)............how many type 2`s had the m mount? 3)............focus ring is so very tight, should i be worried? 1) Highly doubt that Zunow would have used rare earth glass in the 1950's..... 2) As noted above - all were Thread Mount. Your lens has an LTM to M Mount adapter 3) Worried? No but, if it annoys you, get the lens re-lubricated. Obviously, the helical grease has dried up over the years..... I agree that it's probably an adapter... but not a Leitz original : they have a typical cutout along the external ring. Luigi, it appears to be an original Leitz adapter. The cut-out is there but hard to see due to excessive contrast in the photo. Best, Jan
jc_braconi Posted January 12, 2012 Share #6 Posted January 12, 2012 I agree that it's probably an adapter... but not a Leitz original : they have a typical cutout along the external ring. Not everyone : only for lens with a pump release lock on infinity, the 90 & 135 do not need it
