brianv Posted January 11, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted January 11, 2012 It is more of a copy of the Zeiss Tessar with regard to the placement of the aperture mechanism. The Industar-50, a good one, compares well with a coated Elmar. I picked up one in a trade, and had to adjust the Shim for the Leica standard. I never tried to collapse it on an M8. On a Barnack Leica, the focus lever will hang up on the slow-speed dial. Will not be a problem on an M8. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Am I right?  The 3.5/50mm Industar is a bit of a 'bastard'. As Brian mentioned above, optically, it is a copy of the Zeiss Tessar. Mechanically however, it is similar to the collapsible Leitz Elmar. I do recall from having handled one years ago, it does not reach as deep into the camera as the Elmar - so, you should be OK collapsing it into the M8.  Here is a photo of a 'nickel' 3.5/50mm Elmar collapsed into my M8......  Best,  Jan Welcome, dear visitor!
