Hello everyone,

Just got some rolls back from development, but i'm a little dissapointed. There is a weird blue line in every scan. Now im wondering if it could be a light leak or my scanner is just nagging me. Or they messed up my negs in development...

Would be great, if someone has an idea what the problem could be. I just hope, that my M6 has no leaks.

Greetings,

Niklas

Not a light leak. Could be a scan artifact, but looks like a plain old scratch on the film to me.

Could be from the lab (if they use a roller-transport processing machine), or from the camera, or from the film cassette light trap - any place the film is moving and might rub along a bit of dust or dirt (think "Titanic" scraping along the iceberg).

Thank you, for the quick answer :)

Even if its not a light leak, i think I will not send any rolls to any larg lab anymore. They messed up my negs to often. This time, I had a little suprise in the bag. A foreign neg. Pretty unprofesionell.

Take a close look at the negatives to see if a scratch is visible.

I'm assuming the OP's 'dog' photo would have the sprocket holes at the top and bottom of the image, so the blue line is running along the film.

If it's a scatch, then it's more than likely to run along several negs, even the whole film, and should be visible on the emulsion or back of the film - and in between the frames - though might need a low-power magnifier to be clearly visible.
