That's amazing as it's still possible to buy that model new - though 'new old' stock, of course.

 

I assume you're probably talking about Nikon Europe - I found them to be pretty unhelpful (though friendly), with very little knowledge of their own products.

 

When it comes to this new scanner, I'm dreaming that it's a rebrand of the 9000ED. It looks like it almost could be. I certainly wouldn't mind the value of mine spiralling downwards, if I knew that it had risen phoenix-like from the flames...

 

Extremely unlikely :(

I have a faulty 4000ED Nikon does not even took a look at it, they just send it back and told they do not repair it anymore.

 

My LS-4000 went to Nikon, Melville, New York and they did work on it. It was about 6 months ago and things may have changed since then. Nikon USA web site for service shows they will take most scanners.

Just stumbled over this image taken at the Cebit.

 

Compared to the 35mm scanner in the background, this will take some more space on the desk, but I guess, this is true for all MF equipment....

The man, who wrote this (german) blog, mentions a price of 1500 EUR.
