DBerens Posted February 22, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello there, new to the forum. I'm trying to find a reputable dealer of used Leica equipment in the United States. The person I've used before seems to have retired. Any advice in this matter is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to find a 24mm for my M6.

abrewer Posted February 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 22, 2007 Ritz Collectibles: click the banner ad you see at the top of various webpages on this site. Ask for Sandy (Ritz) the owner, or anyone there can be of help to you. They ship FedEx Overnight out of Phoenix so you can track your package and get it within a day or two. They have an extensive online catalog on their website, although they are good at finding things that are not listed as well. Thanks. Allan
nyrich Posted February 22, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 22, 2007 I'm partial to Tamarkin. The shop specializes in Leica and the staff can't be beat. Just don't go looking for any bargains.
DBerens Posted February 22, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted February 22, 2007 Yeah - I've come to feel there are no "bargains" in photographic equipment - you either get what you pay for or get ripped off. I appreciate all the suggestions - I'll look into them.
peter_n Posted February 23, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tony Rose of Popflash in Thousand Oaks, CA. He's terrific. Good luck in finding the 24/2.8, since the advent of the M8 they have become quite scarce on the used market.
mwilliamsphotography Posted February 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 24, 2007 I've used the Classic Connection since Sam Shoshan opened his shop. He has always been fair, and over the years has become a good friend. He places long term customer relations ahead of immediate profit, and while not always the best price, is by far the most responsive when things aren't to the customers liking. That's important IMO, since I hate getting the third degree when I want to return an item. http://www.classicconnection.com 888-LeicaSam (888-534-2272)
charlesphoto99 Posted February 28, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 28, 2007 Oooh, good luck with the 24. Amazing lens - used to be the black sheep of the M line-up but is now in high demand due to the M8. I picked mine up mint w/finder about 6 years ago for $1200; doubt one could come near that now. I would try George Ury (online) or Jim Kuehl (phone). Go the Nemeng Leica site - he has a pretty good list of dealers there. My guy Mark Vercammon at Glazers Camera in Seattle has used gear in now and then at great prices and usually willing to negotiate (no 24s at moment). Great lens that 24 - can't say enough about it. garyp Posted February 28, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 28, 2007 Jim Kuehl and Don Chatterton are both retired, AFAIK. I've used KEH, National Camera, and Kurland Photo with good service from all.
ddp Posted February 28, 2007 Share #11 Posted February 28, 2007 I use Bergen County Camera in NJ...not too far a drive for me either. I like to look at stuff before I buy in any event.
