Advertisement Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Leica V-Lux 3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
capnblinski Posted March 26, 2012 Share #22 Posted March 26, 2012 Thanks Andy. And thanks for the welcome. Didn't see any type of specific new member intro page here -- so -- hey to everybody!
stuny Posted March 27, 2012 Share #23 Posted March 27, 2012 Leica-New Jersey kindly lent a V-Lux 2 to me to bring along with my D2 to Antarctica and northwestern Argentina. With two exceptions I though the camera was quite good. The exceptions: Low light performance was inferior to my D2 (possibly solved by the lower pixel CCD sensor in the V-Lux 3), and the inability to easily focus manually when I wanted to. If both those issues are solved I can see myself buying a V-Lux 3, assuming the May 10th announcement doesn't redirect my interest.
jhluxton Posted March 30, 2012 Share #24 Posted March 30, 2012 I have recently upgraded to a V-Lux 3 earlier this month as an upgrade from a V-Lux 1. Image quality does appear much better than the V-Lux 1 only thing is the body plastic feels different, thinner and possibly more brittle. Anyone else think the camera's construction is less substantial than the V-Lux 1? John
drolfe Posted April 6, 2012 Share #25 Posted April 6, 2012 I've been using the fz-150 for several months now, and have been very pleased with it. It is a decided improvement over the first in the series, which suffered from very poor performance in low light. The Fz-150 handles ISO 800 and 1600 very well with little noise, and 3200 under some situations. The zoom from 25mm to 600mm is very impressive, and I often make use of the articulated LCD screen. It is an excellent light-weight camera for travel, and makes excellent raw files. Very little shutter lag, quick autofocus, and the flash performs well as fill. It is not a fast-handling camera, and I sometimes find my right thumb engages control buttons on the back of the camera just by holding the camera. It also does not offer a full range of aperture/shutter combinations. No, it is not an M. But it does extend my reach into places my M9 cannot go. Regards, drolfe
