If Kodak goes under, it's going to really suck.  JMHO.
Advertisement Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Hi Messsucherkamera, Take a look here Is Kodak a dead man walking?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted December 6, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted December 6, 2011 Why is it going to suck? Â The divisions will be sold off and the trade name will be sold off, and even if Tri-X continues under a new name it will still be Tri-X. Each new owner of the different parts of Kodak will make it a leaner and fitter company and everybody will be happy. Â Steve

Yes, that might happen.  Each new owner of the different parts of Kodak will make it a leaner and fitter company and everybody will be happy.  Yes, everyone will be delirious in this "leaner and fitter" world.
andybarton Posted December 6, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted December 6, 2011 If Kodak go TU, I would imagine one of the smaller producers in Europe would pick up Tri-X if they could, but you can pretty much forget everything else.
myshkine Posted December 6, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted December 6, 2011 Hope not. I shoot slides. I think I would be forced to abandon film (unless Fuji delivers something similar to E100G or Elite chrome).
Messsucherkamera Posted December 7, 2011 Author Share #6 Â Posted December 7, 2011 Why is it going to suck? Â It would suck if Kodak film, paper and chemistry vanished - like Kodachrome and Tech Pan did. Â If Kodak is losing $70 million a month, who is running the company - U.S. Congressmen?? They must do something to innovate the company else, they will be left behind and probably you're right on that point.
CalArts 99 Posted December 7, 2011 Share #8 Â Posted December 7, 2011 I think we'll all survive in respect to our personal consumption of film and film related products. I'm not worried about my own film needs but am saddened about more people who will lose their jobs (and those who have already lost their job at Kodak.) Eastman Kodak was the pride of Rochester and helped put food on a lot of plates for many generations.

I agree: someone will manufacture all kind of film do have a market, but a lot of people could lose the job.  I'm very sorry for this.
