dwyersean Posted December 5, 2011 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I love this little lens on the M8. Usually a very sharp combination for my uses. I particularly enjoy using it at any gig I find myself at... Acid Rock
Advertisement Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Hi dwyersean, Take a look here M8 and Color Skopar 35mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LotharZhou Posted December 6, 2011 Share #2 Posted December 6, 2011 Indeed it's a great little lens, if the cosina quality control is better it would be my favorite. I tried two copies, one blured edge on the left and one on the right. Afterall it's a bargain for it's price. And the Bokeh is very pleasing.
jaapv Posted December 6, 2011 Share #3 Posted December 6, 2011 It is indeed quite nice on the M8, albeit a bit low contrast. When I got the M9 it did not perform as well. Reason I sold it.
dwyersean Posted December 6, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted December 6, 2011 I find my sample is quite punchy. Of course it could be the profiles I'm using in raw developer and capture one. The two voigtlanders I have would have a touch more contrast than the legacy M lenses I'm playing with. Still though, I feel I have a decent sample, I'm happy for that reason. If I was shooting landscapes, any softness might be intolerable. But I've myself applying the Leica to nature shots in a different manner.
tobey bilek Posted January 1, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 1, 2012 I bought a 12 and 15 at a camera store demo when they first came out. The 25 shortly thereafter because I wanted a screw mount lens. There is simply no way they compete quality wise with Leica lenses. The 25 is seeing some use on my M8. 12 paces is 20 feet or 6 meters, 6 is 10 feet & I pasted it on the inside of the really nice well fitting lens cap. The lens is meters only, no feet. RF coupling would be better. The images are not too bad.
earleygallery Posted January 1, 2012 Share #6 Posted January 1, 2012 My 25 & 35 are both superb, tack sharp edge to edge on FF film!

rpsawin Posted January 2, 2012 Share #8 Posted January 2, 2012 And the 50/2.5 Color Skopar is a great lens as well. I'd love to try the 28mm if I could ever find one. Bob
pklein Posted January 3, 2012 Share #9 Posted January 3, 2012 I'd love to try the 28mm if I could ever find one. Bob The 28/3.5 Color Skopar is one of the best CV lenses, period. It's really too bad they discontinued it. I love mine. Knowing what a tough crowd this can be, I won't go so far as to say it's as good as a Leica lens. But let me put it this way: On a trip to Yellowstone National Park a few years ago, I shot my VC 28/3.5 side-by-side with a 35 Summilux ASPH. The Summilux was not embarassed to be seen together with it. I often had to look at the EXIF to determine which lens had been used in a picture. Later, a professional photographer well-known in U.S. Leica circles contacted me about the lens. At his request, I sent him some 16-bit TIFFs shot at Yellowstone, including one of this picture (linked here as a web-sized JPG): L1001587.jpg He pixel-peeped the detail and gradation in the TIFF, and quickly bought his own copy. He used it on a long shooting trip, and was very happy. --Peter
